1. The Hanging church

The Hanging Church is the most famous Coptic Christian church in Cairo, was built in the 9th century to ‘hang’ high upon the walls of Babylon, it is called the Hanging Church because it was built on the southern gate of the Roman Fortress, Logs of palm trees and layers of stones were constructed above the ruins of the Roman fortress to be used as a fundament .

2. Abu Serga church

Abu Serga Church, in Coptic Cairo is one of the oldest Coptic churches in Egypt. 3. Ben Ezra Synagogue

4. church of st. Barbara

The church of St. Barbara is among the churches of Old Cairo of historic importance. It was originally dedicated to St. Cyrus and St. John who were worshipped for their healing powers , Documents from the 13th century mention that the relics of St. Barbara were kept in this church

The Monastery of Saint Simon, also known as the Cave Church, is located in the Mokattam mountain in southeastern Cairo, Egypt, in an area that is known as ‘garbage city’ because of the large population of garbage collectors or Zabbaleen that live there, Inside the church Virgin Mary appeared in carved statue in ceiling without any human effort.

When some troops passed by, it is said that the tree grew branches to hide the Virgin Mary and her son until they were gone. It is believed that the Virgin Mary also threw water from the spring on the ground as she washed Jesus and a balsam tree subsequently sprouted.

7. the Coptic museum

This museum, founded in 1908, houses Coptic art from the earliest days of Christianity in Egypt right through to early Islam. It is a beautiful place, as much for the elaborate woodcarving in all the galleries as for the treasures they contain. These include sculpture that shows obvious continuity from the Ptolemaic period, rich textiles and whole walls of monastery frescoes .
